How do I spend a day in Harrogate?

Step back in time and learn about the spa history of Harrogate in the Royal Pump Room Museum, home to the strongest sulphur well in Europe. Visit the Mercer Art Gallery, the original Promenade Room, and see the latest exhibition or indulge in a spot of spa relaxation in the Turkish Baths.

What are the big events in Harrogate?

The annual Great Yorkshire Show in July is one of the largest agricultural shows in the UK and has been attracting visitors for over 165 years while the Harrogate Spring Flower Show is the first big show in the gardening calendar taking place in April.

Yes, Harrogate is known for its tremendous range and choice of shops.  The town has several distinct shopping areas including the Montpellier Quarter and Cold Bath Road which have many independent shops including fashion, books, gifts and bakeries. What day is market day in Harrogate?

While Harrogate no longer has a traditional market, there is a farmer’s market on the second Thursday of the month along Cambridge Street, the pedestrianised shopping street in the centre of town. There is also a vibrant artisan makers market on the first Sunday of the month in the Valley Gardens.
