Perfect Pumpkin Patches
North Yorkshire is bursting with brilliant pumpkin patches this Halloween, great for a seasonal day out with the kids. Humble Bee Farm near Scarborough offers a charming countryside setting where little ones can grab a wheelbarrow and hunt among the vines for the perfect pumpkin to take home and carve.
At Stockeld Park near Wetherby, pumpkin picking is just one part of the Halloween at Stockeld offer, together with themed trails and activities to keep everyone entertained.
Discover The Great Yorkshire Pumpkin Festival at Monk Park Farm this October with lots of family autumn fun including pumpkin carving and carnival games.

Haunted Halloween Experiences
Are you brave enough to venture into the dungeons at Bolton Castle this Halloween? See the castle at its spooky best by lanternlight with skeletons and witches as you explore each floor. Dressing up is encouraged with a family-friendly version plus a separate event for ages 10+.
Dress up in your best Halloween costume for a visit to Forbidden Corner's A Haunting Halloween event as the gardens are dressed for the season with pumpkins along the trails. Find the bones hidden in the garden, have a go at the quiz and enter the fancy-dress competition on 31 October.
A world of witches, cauldrons and spells await at Mother Shipton's Cave in Knaresborough this October half-term. Meet the trio of witches deep in the woods and have your photo taken with them as you explore the eerie displays. Enjoy Halloween-themed sweet treats including black ice cream and ghost-shaped marshmallows.
Hop aboard the Mad Alice Ghost Train on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway for a journey of spooky storytelling. Take a seat in the lantern-lit carriages and step back in time for an evening of Gothic entertainment. This event is for older children (14+)
Billy-Bobs Parlour, a 1950s style diner near Skipton has lots of family Halloween activities to try including a haunted trail, giant bounce houses and pumpkin picking. From 3 October children can meet Hilda the Witch and have their photo taken with her. Finish your day with some yummy American food with hamburgers, waffles and ice cream sundaes on the menu.
Halloween arts and crafts
Children can join one of the free Make & Take sessions happening over the holidays with the opportunity to make their own bubbling cauldron at the Mercer Art Gallery in Harrogate (28 October), Skipton Town Hall (29 October), and Knaresborough Castle and Courthouse Museum (30 October) or make a haunted house at the Rotunda Museum in Scarborough (29 October).
Spooky spectacles and shows
Whitby truly embraces the spooky season. Venture out after dark to experience Whitby’s famous Illuminated Abbey, a breathtaking light and sound show that transforms the ancient site into a glowing spectacle of myths, legends and Halloween magic.
For something truly unique, Whitby Autumn Goth Weekend fills the town with music, markets and striking costumes in a celebration of alternative style and haunting atmosphere.
Spooky science come to The Station at Richmond with lots of demonstrations and experiments to wow younger audiences. The Spooky Science Show is suitable for youngsters aged 5 – 11.
