Find out why North Yorkshire is the home of Mountain Biking, as well as a varied choice of trail centres, the many hundreds of miles of byways and bridleways rewards exploration and discovery.
The Yorkshire Dales is an ever-popular destination for those with knobbly tyres. From the steep and unforgiving trails of Swaledale and Arkengarthdale in the North, through the classic Nidderdale loops that pass by its many reservoirs, all the way down to the purist up then down of the riding in Wharfedale there are challenges of many flavours in the Dales.
Further west, the hills above and around Settle have their own mix of meandering limestone tracks to keep riders breathless, entertained and alert.
Fast legs might prefer to just get some miles in their Strava across the Vale of York, across fields, through woodlands, along rivers, the flat terrain is perfect for those who enjoy bumpy time trial and an open sky.
The open and far-reaching landscape of the North York Moors has been attracting riders since the dawn of the mountain bike. Incredible views and rolling sandstone tracks offer grins, airtime and technical challenge, as well as the opportunity for growling climbs as you ascend for another go.
