Take to two wheels and explore North Yorkshire, from the Dales to the Coast. Take in some of our classic climbs, our epic long distance routes and the roads that saw champions made in both the UCI World Championship and the Tour de France.
Whether you are seeking a gentle spin, a personal challenge or group riding break let the rolling hills, gently twisting lanes and traffic free cycle ways pull you in to enjoy the wonderful freedom of cycling.
What better way to spot wildlife, marvel at the landscape and get some exercise in all at the same time?
Cycle North Yorkshire’s Roads
Road cyclists will find incredible climbs, great long snaking roads and rich country lanes that can make for a glorious ride.
It is no wonder the Tour de France came to Yorkshire in 2014 when the riding is this good. Across the Dales and the Moors the terrain is a loving adversary, challenging you to dig deeper, daring you to push harder and always keeping its most gruelling surprises until the end. However the incredible views make it all worth it – plan your route and you can enjoy long sweeping descents with a sound track of birds over the hum of your freewheel.
Its not all climbing though, the Heart of Yorkshire is home to the flat arable lands of the Vale of York, that found fame for the long time trial sections in the Tour of Yorkshire that saw the peloton sweeping by the yellow fields of oilseed rape. Let your legs tap out a constant rhythm as you glide along the winding roads lined with tree and hedges,
We have route suggestions for all riders, gentle tootles between pretty villages, and all-day leg busters and everything in between.
Great for Post Ride Relaxation
And when the riding is done, and legs have given their all you will find the perfect pub, café or tearoom to drop into a chair, recharge and reflect on a great day in the saddle.
Enjoy a great evening meal and some of the best local beer the UK has to offer while your legs tingle from a day in the saddle confident in the good night’s sleep you’ll get at one of our cycle friendly accommodation providers.
And then get the maps back out and start planning the next day’s ride!
