When planning your next holiday, don’t forget your four-legged best friend. North Yorkshire is one of the most dog friendly locations in England with scenic landscapes, historic towns and coastal gems, there’s no end to adventures!
Charming Towns
Wherever you travel across North Yorkshire you’ll find a range of dog‑friendly businesses, but it’s always nice to know where to visit beforehand.
The historic towns of Richmond and Knaresborough are highly rated as pooch‑approved, giving you the opportunity to enjoy shops, cafés and restaurants together.
Beyond their charming high streets, you’ll also discover historic character at Richmond Castle and Knaresborough Castle, both of which welcome dogs on leads.
With scenic walks, riverside views and plenty of cosy spots to pause along the way, the towns of North Yorkshire are the perfect place to holiday with your dog.
To the coast
We do like to be beside the seaside, especially in the winter months when restrictions for dogs on beaches are lifted.
Wrap up warm, tie up your boots and head out on your next adventure. For long stretches of golden sand, make your way to Filey and Cayton Bay.
If you’re looking for a picture-postcard setting, you’ll want to visit Robin Hoods Bay and Staithes, quaint fishing villages with timeless character and streets made for exploring.
For a classic trip to the seaside, visit Scarborough and Whitby, both home to plenty restaurants, cafés and, of course, fish and chip shops - perfect for refuelling after a long day of 'walkies'.
Dogs are restricted on certain beaches during the summer months, restrictions are in place 1 May - 30 September.
