Across North Yorkshire there are rural footpaths, town and village trails, family walks, national trails and accessible walks for all. You can explore the wild landscape of the Moors, amble through the Howardian Hills and cross into the scenic Dales and beautiful Nidderdale. You’ll be spoilt for choice whichever direction you go in.

On a slightly more ambitious level or if you’re looking for a challenge, the Coast to Coast footpath cuts through the area as does the Cleveland Way National Trail. Perfect for a longer stretch.  And if you want an Instagram worthy view, take a hike up one of the many high peaks and hills for some stunning views.

North Yorkshire also has some flat and low-lying areas for those walkers who are looking for something more manageable and particularly families who have little legs to consider. You can happily explore the tracks, loops and longer walks on offer, many with history and heritage to learn about while you’re walking.

Or you can explore North Yorkshire's dramatic coastline, packed with beaches, cosy cafes, bustling seaside towns and picturesque villages. There are hikes and trails a plenty to take in the beautiful views of the coast at a pace and distance to suit you. Head inland a little to explore the beautiful vast and varied landscapes just a few miles in. There’s a rugged beauty to this area that just begs to be explored on two feet.

For those who prefer to incorporate a short trail with some shopping in one of our market towns, there are several short town trails usually including some history of the area but staying close to town for you to follow.
