Is Boroughbridge a walkable town

Absolutely! The shops loosely follow on road that twists through the town passing the iconic wellhead and the market square.  Even the neighbouring villages are within easy walking distance, Langthorpe just over the river, is home to several great pubs, and just 10 minutes’ walk in the opposite direction you will find the pretty and historic village of Aldborough.

Is Boroughbridge good for shopping

Boroughbridge is a wonderful place to spend a couple of hours browsing the shops, with delicious treats, pre-loved home furnishings and curiosities and great fashion finds.  The real risk will be not getting carried away and being able to carry everything.

What are the best walks from Boroughbridge.

Popular short walks include a loop down to the village of Aldborough, the sort of village that makes for a great postcard, or along the river and canal to the nearby lock, a great picnic spot.

Longer walks include the popular loop of Dog Kennel Lane that reaches out to Newby Hall and the village of Skelton, crossing luscious farmland and woodland.
