A Bridgerton inspired visit

Dearest gentle reader...

Dearest gentle reader, North Yorkshire may not play the starring role of Bridgerton, but we do happen to know some places that will make you feel like you’ve just stepped into the ton.

Become the main character as you wander through grand estates and enchanting gardens, pausing for afternoon tea as you watch members of society pass you by, a day even Lady Whistledown would dream of.

Castle Howard

Just six miles from Malton lies Castle Howard, a place like no other. As the only confirmed North Yorkshire filming location for Bridgerton, its magnificent house, sweeping landscapes, and exquisite gardens are impossible to overlook.

Portrayed as Clyvedon Castle, the Duke of Hastings’ and Daphne Bridgerton’s honeymoon estate. The Walled Garden and the Temple of the Four Winds take centre stage in Season 1, offering scenes that any devoted fan will undoubtedly recognise from episode 6.

Inside the house, admire world‑class art collections, dramatic baroque architecture, and richly decorated interiors before venturing into the ever‑evolving gardens, where you can quite literally walk in the footsteps of the Bridgerton characters.

Newby Hall and Gardens

Located 5 miles from Ripon, Newby Hall and Gardens would be a perfect fit to replicate the Bridgerton’s London residence. With a grand entrance and red brick exterior, it’s reminiscent of the family’s elegant home. Take the opportunity to explore the hall and wander the library, the tapestry room, the statue gallery, and the billiards room. Each one offers unique charm and polished grandeur that would make even Lady Bridgerton herself feel perfectly at home.

With a dedicated team crafting the award‑winning garden, home to the stunning double herbaceous borders which burst into colour each summer, it's all too easy to imagine a royal soirée unfolding across the lawns, complete with whispered gossip and blossoming romance.

RHS Garden Harlow Carr

A short carriage ride from Harrogate town centre brings you to RHS Garden Harlow Carr. Renowned for its 58‑acre botanical garden filled with woodland walks, seasonal flower displays, and a sweeping wildflower meadow, it's the perfect setting for a royal rendezvous.

It’s the sort of place where one could easily imagine Anthony Bridgerton and Kate Sharma taking a stroll, pausing to admire the tranquil water features and borders bursting with colour. And if, like Eloise Bridgerton, you prefer a quiet corner away from society’s watchful eye, seek out the Alpine House. A glasshouse that feels like a hidden retreat, home to rare and delicate plants that thrive in their own little world.

Harewood House

We couldn’t possibly miss this authentic 18th‑century stately home. At Harewood House, with its opulent interiors, sweeping staircases, and magnificent country views, one can easily imagine Lady Danbury herself taking up residence here. In fact, Harewood House has already embraced its royal potential, with a Bridgerton‑inspired Christmas event, complete with regency‑style décor. Glittering ballgowns, classical music, and immersive projections offer visitors a taste of the elegance, drama and charm, showcasing exactly why Harewood House deserves a place on every Bridgerton lover’s itinerary.

Grantley Hall

You may have caught this lavish Grade II listed 17th‑century mansion on your screens before, recently featured on Channel 5 as Yorkshire’s Poshest Hotel: Grantley Hall. This is exactly the kind of five‑star luxury retreat the Bridgerton families would escape to.

With Michelin‑starred dining, elegant bars and a world‑class spa, Grantley Hall echoes the aristocratic lifestyle portrayed throughout the hit Netflix series. Booking is required to enter the estate but once inside, guests can truly immerse themselves in the experience.

It wouldn’t be a Bridgerton‑inspired trip without a quintessential afternoon tea, and there is nowhere more fitting than Bettys. Established in 1919, this iconic Yorkshire tea room offers the kind of indulgence even Queen Charlotte would approve of.

Savour a menu filled with exquisite pastries, perfectly crafted cakes, and blends of tea served with timeless elegance. Visit charming locations in both Harrogate and RHS Garden Harlow Carr.
