Paul Thompson Performs 'to Absurdity and Beyond!' - Reeth Memorial Hall

Paul presents a celebration of classic comic songs, by the likes of Tom Lehrer, Flanders and Swann, Richard Stilgoe, Victoria Wood and Jake Thackray, along with some of his own comic material.

Paul has always been fascinated by language and became enamoured at an early age by the witty, poetic songs of Jake Thackray and other similar songwriters such as Tom Lehrer and Flanders and Swann.

In more recent years he has rekindled this obsession, joining together with other fans to get Jake's early material released on DVD and CD, and going on to record 'The Lost Will and Testament of Jake Thackray', an album of long-lost songs, most of which had never been released before, writing his own tunes to pieces where only the lyrics survived.

In 2022, along with fellow enthusiast John Watterson, he published 'Beware of the Bull The Enigmatic Genius of Jake Thackray', included by the Daily Telegraph it in its pick of the best music books of the year.
