About Scarborough 400 giant deckchair trail

Discover Scarborough’s story in a whole new way with the Giant Deckchair Trail and celebrate 400 years of England’s original seaside resort. Beginning at the railway station and winding through the town, the trail guides you along North and South Bay to key landmarks – each one marked by a spectacular oversized deckchair.

This walkable adventure follows a natural route from the town centre to both bays and up along the scenic coastline. Start anywhere you like or follow the numbered trail for the full storytelling experience.

Ten giant chairs will be dotted across the seafront, parks, heritage spots and attractions, with each design shining a spotlight on a different moment from Scarborough’s remarkable past. From the discovery of the spa waters in 1626 to the arrival of the railway in 1845, each chair brings a chapter of the town’s history to life.

It’s a brilliant family day out and the perfect excuse to grab your crew, strike a pose and snap some unforgettable photos as you explore.
