About Peasholm Park

Situated in Scarborough’s North Bay, a few minutes’ walk from the beach, lies Peasholm Park - a must-see for anyone visiting Scarborough on the North Yorkshire Coast.

This oriental themed municipal park offers a beautiful system of streams, waterfalls and miniature bridges within tree lined paths and mystical gardens to lose yourself in. Boasting a wealth of arboreal interest, Peasholm is home to several Champion and rare trees - some being the best examples of species in the country.

A vast array of wildlife also resides here, including an abundance of tame grey squirrels, ducks, swans and geese. Peasholm Lake pools around a tree covered island, accessed via a bridge followed by a snaking 'tree walk' path to the top. Here you'll discover a hidden oriental garden with a tranquil pond dominated by a large oriental pagoda towering over the park offering beautiful views across the treetops and up the glen.

Park Activities:

Boating Lake - When spring arrives Peasholm's Boat Deck opens up with a choice of rowing boats and dragon pedalos for you to view the park from the water at a slower pace.  Mini Golf - Peasholm's 18-hole mini golf course provides a little fun and escape from the hustle and bustle of life by the seaside. Located just beyond the lake, past the wishing well and up the path alongside Northstead Manor Drive.

Putting Green - Set in the hub of the park and adjacent to the boat deck, is a small putting green. This is the perfect spot for a quick match with the family with plenty of benches alongside if you'd prefer to spectate with ice-cream in hand!

The Peasholm Café serves both hot and cold food and above the main part of the lake, this cafe has plenty of indoor and outside seating and is directly overlooking the island waterfall and pagoda.

The Peasholm Kiosk Offering ice-lollies and drinks to refresh you whilst you enjoy these beautiful surroundings. All of the park activities are weather dependant but generally open weekends from Easter until the early November and daily during school holidays.

The park is home to the oldest continuously simulated battle in the country - a unique miniature sea battle named 'The Naval Warfare'. Taking place July and August each year this popular event has been a unique family holiday tradition since 1927. Prominently positioned in front of the park island waterfall and in the centre of the lake, sits Peasholm Bandstand, hosting among others the Sunday afternoon brass band concerts, during the warmer months of July and August.

Other events taking place with the park are 'Spring Daze' and 'Autumn Daze' which bring people together for outdoor seasonal activities including arts and craft with nature and bushcraft and 'Moonlight on the Lake' which sees the park come to life at night as it is adorned with illuminated lights and lanterns amongst the trees and on the lake creating a magical experience and sees the park take on a whole different feel.
