Spend a holiday in North Yorkshire and you can enjoy visiting quaint tearooms serving tea and cakes in vintage china, eat fish and chips at the seaside and find the biggest fluffiest Yorkshire puddings.

However, there is much more to be discovered, eaten and drunk when you visit, so let us take you on a culinary tour of the county with a few surprises.

A traditional afternoon tea with a plate of scones is always a tasty treat, but have you tried a Fat Rascal or a Whitby Lemon Bun instead?

Pick up a Fat Rascal, a cross between a scone and a rock cake, at Bettys, each with its own personality with cherry eyes and an almond smile or if you are enjoying a visit to the Coast, you can buy a Whitby Lemon Bun from Botham’s of Whitby, a fifth  generation family run bakery that has been making this uniquely North Yorkshire treat for over 150 years.

Or for a twist on the traditional afternoon tea, how about a fish and chip or breakfast version?
