Stargazing tips

The key to great stargazing? Darkness. Look for locations away from the glare of lights and busy roads. You don’t need to trek into the wilderness, just find a place with minimal artificial lighting and a wide, unobstructed view of the sky. Our Dark Sky discovery sites are perfect.

Clear skies are a must. Before heading out, check a reliable weather app to ensure cloud cover won’t spoil your plans. For an extra treat, time your outing with a meteor shower or, if you are lucky, a chance of seeing the Northern Lights!

Stargazing is a slow, peaceful activity, and your eyes need time to adjust to the dark. You might be outside for a while, so layer up! Bring blankets, warm drinks, and easy-to-grab snacks. A dim red torch is perfect for navigating without ruining your night vision.
