The Runswick Bay Catch
The Runswick Bay Catch is a seafood restaurant with a fully licensed bar, located within The Firs Guesthouse in the picturesque coastal village of Runswick Bay, 8 miles north of Whitby, on the edge of the North York Moors National Park.
About The Runswick Bay Catch
At The Runswick Bay Catch, situated in The Firs Guesthouse, we serve local fresh fish and seafood. All dishes on our menu are cooked to order using fresh local produce, this means we can remove any of the ingredients to cater to all dietary requirements.
Our menu changes frequently depending on what is seasonal and available. We also cook what we call bits “n” bobs, chicken and duck from Nidderdale, North York Moors lamb, pork from Egton and Yorkshire beef all sourced from our local Butcher, Rob Breckon in Whitby. We also have vegan and gluten free menus available, just let us know of any dietary requirements when you book.
The local fresh fish we use is supplied by North East Seafoods in Redcar; who work closely with the Marine Conservation Society to ensure that all the fish supplied is sustainably caught. Taylor’s of Pickering supply us with all our fruit, veg and salad, along with Yorkshire milk and cream from Paynes Dairies in Boroughbridge. Throughout the summer soft fruit and salad is grown in Yorkshire. We also use award winning Yorkshire cheese from artisan cheese makers Shepherd's Purse. We are also showcasing wine, beers, cider and spirits brewed and bottled in Yorkshire. Our wine is from the award winning Yorkshire Heart Vineyard, near York, who also supply Liberty Larger, Hearty Bitter, and JRT Golden Best. Baytown Brewery, based in Robin Hood's Bay, give a wide selection to our beers, ciders and ales. Jessica Slater and Luke Pentith of Whitby Gin Distillery supply us with Whitby Gin Original, Bramble of the Bay, and Old Tom. Mixers and soft drinks are supplied by Fentmans in Hexham.
We also have a second, dog friendly dining room called the Anchor Lounge, but space is limited so please mention when booking if you wish to bring your four legged friend(s), and in good weather meals can be enjoyed outside on the terrace. Booking is essential, so please call us before 4PM to reserve your table.
