Day 1: afternoon – book into your accommodation

Saltmoore

The luxurious accommodation at Saltmoore is your home for the next few days. Situated in a stunning location in Sandsend, your stay in one of the Snug rooms with its cosy vibes will leave you feeling relaxed as you get away from it all.  Head to the Sanctuary Spa for a relaxing treatment, walk around the grounds or take a short walk into Sandsend, browse the independent shops and walk along the beach. At night look out of your window at the stars or snuggle down in the super king bed with a good book.

Day 1: evening – tantalise your tastebuds

The Brasserie at Saltmoore

Start your evening with a pre-dinner cocktail in the Orangerie Bar before dining in the Michelin Guide recommended Brasserie at Saltmoore where you can enjoy delicious cuisine created by Executive Chef Adam Maddock. Meat and seafood are often the stars of the menu, including venison, wood pigeon and stonebass dishes. The hotel’s ‘no-dig’ kitchen garden provides many of the vegetables, herbs and seasonal fruit that are used in the dishes. Finish your meal with a rich port or liqueur while playing some games in the bar.

Day 2: morning – Spend a day in Whitby

Whitby Brewery

Visit Whitby Brewery situated close to the imposing abbey ruins. Passionate about local craft brewing, the microbrewery runs tours where you can learn more about the whole brewing process and includes three 1/3-pint tasters. Call into the shop afterwards to purchase some bottles to take home with you, there is also a large range of merchandise including glasses, clothing and bags or buy some gift vouchers so your friends and family can enjoy the experience too.

Day 2: afternoon – a Whitby speciality

Botham’s of Whitby

After your brewery tour spend some time exploring the abbey before making your way down the 199 steps to the main town centre. Call into Botham’s of Whitby tearooms and shop on Baxtergate. A Whitby institution since 1865 where multiple generations of the family have continued the baking traditions. Enjoy some lunch or a pot of tea and a scone before picking up some sweet treats from the shop. Their Whitby Lemon Bun is a speciality not to be missed, so why not buy some to enjoy in your hotel room later.

Day 2: evening – it's got to be fish and chips

Quayside

No visit to the seaside is complete without a fish and chip supper.  Quayside near the harbour is a family restaurant that has been in Whitby for over fifty years. Find a table on the first floor so you can enjoy the views across Whitby’s harbour. Choose from traditional haddock or cod battered to perfection served with thick chips and homemade tartare sauce. If you still have room, finish your meal with homemade gelato, before taking an evening stroll along the harbour wall to the lighthouse.

Day 3: morning – raise a glass

Filey Distillery

This award-winning distillery is housed in a 160-year-old former herring smokehouse and it’s here that their gin is distilled, crafted and bottled. You will feel as if you have stepped back in time as the distilling is still done in a copper still and much of the process is done by hand. Book a micro tour to find out more including the botanicals used and try some samples. Finish your visit in the shop and buy a bottle or two for yourself or as a present.

Day 3: afternoon – treat yourself to afternoon tea

Treat yourself to afternoon tea at Wrea Head Hall Hotel, a country house hotel near Scarborough. Served in one of the beautiful grand rooms, conservatory or in the garden in summertime, you can enjoy neatly cut sandwiches, scones, cakes and mini desserts all served on an elegant cake stand accompanied by tea or coffee. Make your experience extra special with a glass of champagne or if you prefer a smaller treat, you can order a cream tea instead.
