For a slice of traditional Scarborough head for one of it’s two bays with glorious sandy beaches. The South bay is alive with the bright lights of the amusements, souvenir shops and buzzing cafe and restaurant culture along with an endless choice of ice-cream, sticks of rock or maybe a tray of chips to tempt you as you pass! Hop on the open-top bus or take a brisk 2 mile walk around Marine drive and the castle headland to the north bay where the colourful chalet lined beach front provides a perfect base to explore. Take your pick from breakfast with seals, riding a miniature train, climbing high ropes, crazy golf or grab a local surf instructor and get busy on those waves!
Looking for a more laid back experience of Scarborough? Take a stroll around oriental themed Peasholm Park, The Italian gardens on the south cliff or admire the stunning views from the Cleveland way coastal paths.
For a spot of retail therapy Scarborough offers a good mix of larger branded and independent shops with plenty of cafes along the way for that all important break of quick pick me up or an indulgent long lunch. Sit back and be entertained with Scarborough’s rich theatre scene, offering an ever-surprising mix of shows at one of a choice of theatres all within easy reach.
