Itinerary Schedule
Robin Hood's Bay
Explore the pretty coastal village of Robin Hood’s Bay with its narrow streets and stunning coastline. Spend the morning walking around the beautifully decorated streets and admire the festive window displays.
Buy a warming hot chocolate or stop for breakfast at one of the little cafes and call into the many independent shops where you can browse lovely gifts and pick up some last-minute presents.
If you visit over the weekend 6 - 7 December, you will see the village step back in time during the Robin Hood's Bay Victorian Weekend.
Whitby
Spend the afternoon Christmas shopping and browse Whitby's independent shops together with the many gift shops that lead up to the 199 steps including those selling jet where you can buy some unusual gifts.
Take the opportunity to see talented makers and buy lovely, handcrafted gifts as Christmas presents at the Made in Whitby Christmas Festival (Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 December). Or visit the Whitby Christmas Market and Festival in November.
If you are visiting on 5 December, you are in for a treat as you witness one of the more unusual festive traditions in North Yorkshire - The Krampus Run.
See the town sparkle
Christmas in Scarborough is full of sparkle and colour as the town comes to life with the many light installations and displays that make up Scarborough Lights, including the harbour lights shimmering in the dark. This is a spectacular way to end your festive day out at the coast.
If you are visiting between 19 and 23 November, the drone display over Scarborough Castle, part of Scarborough Lights, is a must-see and Scarborough Sparkle brings a festive wonderland to the town (28-30 November).
Enjoy more Christmas excitement
With so many festive events happening in November and December along the coast, one day isn’t enough so why not enjoy a few days away so you don’t miss anything. Book an overnight stay at Saltmoore where the moors meet the coast and experience luxury accommodation. The snug rooms offer a cosy stay or enjoy the timeless charm of a classic room.
Savour delicious food in The Brasserie before or after a bracing walk by the sea and enjoy a relaxing afternoon in the Sanctuary at Saltmoore, a haven of serenity.
