About Scarborough Sparkle

Scarborough Sparkle is a magical and enchanting Christmas wonderland taking place at the Open Air Theatre.

The event is free to attend and is the perfect place to dive into the festive spirit this Christmas and get a head start on your shopping. Launching the event on the Friday night is the spectacular 'Sparkle Lantern Parade' with community groups from all over Scarborough. The parade sets off from, and goes through Peasholm Park (Peasholm Driveentrance) at 5.30pm to officially open the event at 6pm at the nearby Open Air Theatre.

This year, there are more than 50 stalls including crafts, gifts, hot food and drinks. If that isn't enough there will be a tipi bar, where you can listen to music and toast marshmallows and a stage hosted by This is the Coast, featuring local choirs and competition giveaways. There will also be a snow machine, Christmas tree, Santa sleigh and appearances from some famous faces including the Grinch, Elsa, Ana and Olaf. Keep an ear out for the popular Back Chat Brass band on Saturday too.

Rides and attractions from O'Briens Fun Fairs will include a giant Ferris wheel, teacups ride, bungee trampolines, ghost train, fun house, inflatable slide, swings and hook a duck amongst others.

A free bus will operate a return service on Saturday and Sunday from Eastfield, passing through Crossgates, Falsgrave and Scarborough Town Centre, before arriving at Peasholm Park.
