Wild Eye Seawatching Station & Roman Mosaic artwork

Sited on Scarborough’s Marine Drive, by the castle headland a Seawatching Station is a great place to view wildlife. Also housed here is a striking Roman Mosaic artwork by Turner Prize winning artist, Jeremy Deller. The project is a destination for wildlife watching and art which celebrates the diversity of wildlife that can be seen and enjoyed along the Yorkshire Coast.

The position is located at one of the best spots on the English coast for dolphin and porpoise watching (with recent average sightings of 400 per annum) and brings together a renovated seating area and shelter with artwork, interpretation and free telescopes.

The seawatching station and art work was brought to us as part of a 'Wild Eye Project' - an inspiring art and nature programme celebrating the Yorkshire Coast’s remarkable wildlife and marine environment. The project offers a range of art and nature experiences, with sculptures, augmented reality trail, sustainable seafood recipes and art installations.
