About Ribblehead Station Tearoom and Visitor Centre

Ribblehead Station is an operational station on the famous Settle-Carlisle Railway. It sees 8 passenger trains pass daily each direction and has lots of freight movement and occasional steam trains on the line as well, attracting train enthusiasts from far and wide. In addition it is just a stone’s throw from the world famous Ribblehead Viaduct – walkable in around 10 minutes from the station.

It sits in stunning Yorkshire Dales Countryside, slap bang in the middle of the famous Yorkshire Three Peaks and with one of the King’s National Nature Reserves – Wild Ingleborough on the doorstep it is an absolute haven for walkers and wildlife enthusiasts alike.

The station building is leased and maintained by the Settle-Carlisle Railway Trust and it has recently undergone a £60,000 refurbishment to install underfloor heating, Yorkshire Stone Flag flooring, a full catering kitchen and a stunning industrial heritage redecoration.

The Tearoom is open daily from 9am to 4pm most of the year (times will vary in winter due to the extreme weather and remote location!) and provides a range of hot and cold sandwiches and light snacks, homemade sweet treats and hot and cold drinks. There is also a lovely gift shop element which offers high quality cards, prints, books, maps and souvenirs of a visit to the viaduct or on the railway itself.

Also inside the station building and open the same times as the tearoom in the Ribblehead Visitor Centre. This comprises two rooms telling the story of the building of the railway and viaduct, lots of memorabilia that has kindly been donated and even the original ticket shelving and some other unique items. The Centre is free to visit.

Often running free events, the Visitor Centre can also be hired by groups wishing to use it for events or as a base for a visit to the area. Contact the team to find out more.
