Linton Falls
A series of stepped limestone ledges forming a waterfall, created when the earth's crust shifted millions of years ago.
About Linton Falls
Linton Falls lies just below Grassington, where the River Wharfe drops over a series of stepped limestone ledges. It can be reached on foot from the village via a short riverside walk.
The falls are particularly spectacular after rainfall, but the area is worth visiting year-round for views of the river and surrounding countryside. The route passes footbridges and meadows and links easily with longer walks through Wharfedale.
This section of the river has played an important role in shaping the valley, both geologically and historically, and interpretation nearby explains how the landscape formed.
