About Grimwith Reservoir Walk

Perched in the high dales hills between Pateley Bridge and the town Grassington is one of the more atmospheric reservoirs around Nidderdale. With its richly coloured peat waters that drain from the surrounding fells, the reservoir is a popular walking location with an easy to navigate 4.5 mile loop around its circumference.

The water is also a popular sailing location for its own sailing club and young learners from the local outdoor education centre, the exposed location and often lively winds make for a great display of sailing skills. This adds an extra level of spectacle to your walk alongside the dramatic landscape and water birds. There is ample parking as well as toilet facilities at Grimwith reservoir.  You will also find several seats and benches along the walk allowing you to enjoy the view over the water and scenery, for those not planning to undertake the full loop these are best accessed by setting off on the loop anticlockwise.
