About Amber’s Restaurant
Contemporary Yorkshire Dining in Harrogate
Amber’s is a relaxed but elegant restaurant in the heart of Harrogate, serving contemporary British food with a strong Yorkshire influence.
Set within the historic Cedar Court Hotel overlooking the Stray, the restaurant brings together carefully sourced ingredients, thoughtful cooking and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
Whether you are joining us for dinner, Sunday lunch, afternoon tea or simply something relaxed in the lounge, our aim is simple: good food, properly prepared, with plenty of Yorkshire character.
You do not need to be staying at the hotel to dine with us. Amber’s is as much for local diners, friends and families as it is for visitors discovering Harrogate.
Inspired by Lady Amber Fitzwilliam
Amber’s takes its name and inspiration from Lady Amber Fitzwilliam, a progressive thinker and pioneering scientist whose story is connected to the hotel.
In the early 20th century she ran her famous Thursday Club here, bringing people together to discuss ideas, culture and the world around them.
That spirit of curiosity and conversation helped inspire the Amber’s of today.
We have taken the same idea of doing things with a little thought and personality and applied it to food, creating a restaurant that respects British classics while being willing to give them a contemporary Yorkshire twist.
The original Thursday Club also lives on in a modern form, with selected Thursday evenings combining dinner with live acoustic music.
Yorkshire on the Plate
Yorkshire is at the heart of how we approach food.
We use locally sourced ingredients wherever possible and work with Yorkshire producers and suppliers to bring regional produce onto our menus.
Depending on the season, that might include Yorkshire-bred meats, locally produced cheese, regional vegetables and ingredients from farms and producers across the county.
Our menus change with the seasons, but the principle remains the same: start with good ingredients and allow them to speak for themselves.
That local approach extends beyond the kitchen too. Across Cedar Court Hotels we work with Yorkshire distilleries, independent breweries and drinks producers to give guests a genuine taste of the region in the glass as well as on the plate.
Dinner at Amber’s
Dinner at Amber’s is contemporary British dining without unnecessary formality.
Our evening menu combines familiar flavours with more imaginative combinations, with dishes changing throughout the year to make the most of seasonal ingredients.
Expect carefully cooked meat and fish, thoughtful vegetarian and vegan dishes, homemade breads and desserts, alongside a selection of wines, cocktails and locally produced drinks.
The dining room itself is stylish and comfortable, making Amber’s equally suited to a relaxed evening meal, date night, celebration or dinner during a stay in Harrogate.
Sunday Lunch in Harrogate
A proper Sunday lunch is one of the things we think Yorkshire does particularly well.
At Amber’s, our Sunday menu combines traditional roast favourites with more contemporary dishes and seasonal alternatives.
Our roasting meats are Yorkshire bred and supplied locally, with classic accompaniments including roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables, Yorkshire puddings and rich gravy.
There are also vegetarian options and other dishes for those who fancy something different from a traditional roast.
Sunday lunch is served from 12.30pm to 3pm, with two and three-course options available.
Later in the day, our à la carte dinner menu is available from 5.30pm to 8.30pm.
Afternoon Tea at Amber’s
Harrogate has a long association with afternoon tea, so it feels particularly at home at Amber’s.
Our afternoon tea combines sandwiches, savouries and cakes with carefully selected Yorkshire ingredients, served in the restaurant or, when the weather allows, in the hotel’s outdoor spaces.
Add a glass of chilled Prosecco if the occasion calls for something extra.
Afternoon tea is available Monday to Saturday from 12.30pm until 3pm.
Whether you are marking a birthday, catching up with friends or simply adding something special to a day in Harrogate, it is an easy way to slow down and make an afternoon of it.
Breakfast at Amber’s
Amber’s is also where the day begins for guests staying at Cedar Court Hotel.
Breakfast is served daily, with both a full Yorkshire breakfast and continental options available.
Visitors who are not staying at the hotel can also book our all you can eat breakfast buffet.
Our breakfast follows the same philosophy as the rest of the restaurant: generous, familiar food made with quality ingredients and plenty of choice.
Relaxed Lunch and Lounge Dining
Not every visit needs to be a full restaurant occasion.
The Cedar Court lounge and bar offers a more relaxed food menu during the day, with soups, sandwiches, light bites and homemade favourites.
It is ideal for informal lunches, coffee, drinks or something to eat while catching up with friends.
Dogs are welcome in the lounge, making it a useful option for visitors exploring Harrogate with a four-legged companion.
Thursday Club
Thursday Club brings a little of Amber’s history back to life.
Inspired by Lady Amber Fitzwilliam’s original Thursday Club at the hotel, selected Thursday evenings combine dinner with live acoustic music from carefully chosen performers.
It is relaxed rather than formal, giving guests somewhere to enjoy good food, a drink and live music without turning dinner into a full-scale event.
Check the Amber’s website for the latest Thursday Club dates, menus and availability.
The Imaginarium
For something more private, Amber’s is also home to The Imaginarium.
This elegant private dining room sits within Cedar Court Hotel and has been designed for intimate celebrations, private dinners and smaller business gatherings.
Menus can be tailored to the occasion, using the same focus on local ingredients and thoughtful cooking found throughout Amber’s.
The room can accommodate private dining for groups of up to approximately 30 guests, depending on the chosen setup.
It is a particularly good choice for birthdays, anniversaries, family gatherings, private lunches and business dinners where you want your own space without losing the atmosphere and service of the restaurant.
Dietary Requirements
We want as many people as possible to be able to enjoy eating with us.
Our menus regularly include vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free dishes, with further adaptations possible depending on the dish and individual requirements.
Allergen information is available, and guests with allergies or specific dietary needs are encouraged to speak to the team when booking so we can provide the most suitable guidance.
Because dishes are prepared in working kitchens where allergens are present, we cannot guarantee a completely allergen-free environment.
A Restaurant for Harrogate, Not Just the Hotel
Although Amber’s sits within Cedar Court Hotel, it has been created as a restaurant in its own right.
You can walk in from Harrogate for Sunday lunch, meet friends for afternoon tea, come for dinner before an evening in town or make Amber’s part of a weekend break.
The hotel is around a 10-minute walk from Harrogate town centre and sits directly opposite the 200-acre Stray, making the restaurant easy to combine with a day exploring Harrogate.
Private on-site parking is also available at Cedar Court Hotel for visitors.
An Independently Owned Yorkshire Business
Cedar Court Hotels is proudly independently owned, and continued reinvestment is an important part of how we operate.
That applies just as much to food and drink as it does to bedrooms and public spaces.
We continue to invest in our restaurants, kitchens, menus and guest experiences, while building stronger relationships with Yorkshire suppliers.
It means Amber’s is not intended to stand still. Menus evolve, experiences change and new reasons to visit are introduced throughout the year.
For us, reinvestment is about making our hotels and restaurants more comfortable, more enjoyable and, most importantly where Amber’s is concerned, more delicious.
