Faure Requiem - Voices and Brass - Skipton Town Hall

Skipton Choral Society is joined by York Railway Institute Band for an evocative autumn concert of powerful choral music enriched by the warmth and colour of brass in new arrangements for choir and brass band.

Gabriel Faure's Requiem forms the centrepiece of the programme, a tender and deeply expressive work whose flowing melodies and rich harmonies offer comfort, hope and peace. The concert also includes Faure's beautiful Cantique de Jean Racine, alongside the stirring Easter Hymn from Pietro Mascagni's Cavalleria Rusticana. Directed by David Lancaster and Robert Webb, the choir and band come together at Skipton Town Hall to give world premiere performances of arrangements for brass band and choir, bringing a fresh sound to these much-loved works.
