About Page To Stage - Our Dramatic Playreading Club - Harrogate Theatre
Page to Stage is a monthly gathering for anyone who loves theatre, from a performing or literary perspective.
Together, we'll explore a different play, series of short plays, or synopsis & scenes from a range of plays through an informal cold reading, bringing the words from the page to life in the room. No rehearsals. No auditions. No pressure. Just come along and expand your knowledge of theatrical scripts.
Each session focuses on a selected scriptwhether it's a beloved classic, a modern masterpiece, a comedy favourite, an award-winning drama, an overlooked gem waiting to be rediscovered, or even a brand-new work being heard aloud for the very first time.
Fancy reading a role? Simply volunteer on the night and join the cast as the play unfolds. Whether you're an experienced actor, an aspiring performer, a director, writer, student, or complete newcomer, you're welcome to step in and take part. Prefer to listen? Come along, relax, and enjoy the play/s as an audience member.
At the interval and after the final curtain, we'll open the discussion. What themes stood out? Which characters resonated most? How did the play work on the page, and how might it work on the stage? Every reading becomes a shared exploration of theatre, storytelling, and performance, with everyone invited to contribute their thoughts and ideas, or soak up the critique.
From Shakespeare to contemporary classics, from forgotten treasures to fresh new voices, every month offers a new opportunity to experience theatre in its purest form, meet fellow theatre enthusiasts, and discover the magic that happens when words leap off the page and into the imagination.
