About Raworths Salon North: September - The Crown Hotel

Get ready for a night of curiosity, creativity and unexpected connections. Raworths Salon North brings some of the world’s most fascinating ideas from science, psychology, history and culture into an intimate cabaret-style setting right here in Harrogate.

We’re delighted to welcome Deborah Hyde, who explores why humans are drawn to the supernatural. Drawing on psychology, folklore, history and anthropology, Deborah unpacks our enduring fascination with ghosts, vampires, werewolves and the unexplained, revealing what these beliefs can tell us about ourselves.

Joining her is neuroscientist Professor Adam Zeman, who opens up the strange and extraordinary world of imagination. From daydreams and memory to hallucinations and the mind’s eye, Adam explores how our brains create the rich inner worlds that shape so much of our experience.

A third speaker will complete the line-up, bringing another thought-provoking perspective to an evening designed to challenge, entertain and inspire.

Each speaker takes the stage for around 20 minutes, followed by audience questions, with intervals to grab a drink, browse books from local bookseller Imagined Things, and continue the conversation.

With ideas in the air and a drink in hand, this is a night to discover something unexpected, meet fellow curious minds and leave buzzing with new ways of seeing the world.

Hosted by producer and presenter Natasha Knight, Raworths Salon North is a celebration of bold thinking, brilliant storytelling and the joy of discovering ideas that stay with you.

Voted one of GQ magazine’s Top 100 Things to Do in the World.

Kindly sponsored by Raworths Solicitors.
