About Tewit Silver Band Charity Concert - Harrogate Theatre
Special Guest soloist - Prof. Roger Webster.
Tewit Silver Band was founded in Harrogate in 2017 to provide development for the young members of Tewit Youth Band who had to leave at 18 to comply with ‘Youth’ status. Along with these top youth players and musicians from other bands they had a full band within weeks. Majority of the members are home grown and play to a very high standard. Earlier this year they were donated a complete new set of top range Besson instruments, which allowed their existing instruments to be passed down through the lower Tewit bands. This concert launches these instruments.
In 2016 they entered the fourth section of the National Brass Band Championships and rapidly progressed up through the sections and are now in the top Championship Section, an amazing feat in just six years. They play a wide selection of popular, Classic and Brass Band Favourites .
We are very honoured to have Professor Roger Webster, who has been acclaimed as one of the world’s finest ever cornetists.
All proceeds from the concert will go to ‘Friends of Harrogate Hospital’ and ‘Harrogate Theatre’ charities.
Friends of Harrogate Hospital is a volunteer led charity, with no paid staff or overheads, raising money to provide equipment or facilities for Harrogate Hospital and local outreach services, which cannot be funded through the current NHS budget.
In 2026 Friends of Harrogate Hospital will be celebrating 60 years of fundraising for Harrogate Hospital. During this time they have raised £2.4m and purchased thousands of items to enhance the patient experience.
