The acclaimed Carducci Quartet present a first half which contrasts some classic and light hearted Haydn with some less light hearted Beethoven! - the last quartet written by Beethoven before the start of his late quartet cycle - whose completion at TMS we heard performed by the Treske Quartet in June of last year. After the interval the intense beauty of viola virtuoso Rebecca Clarke's composition is followed by Dvorak's rightly popular string quartet no.12 which, like the New World Symphony completed just before, reflects the composer's happy times in America.
