Getting Around
North Yorkshire is easily accessible by major public transport. There are two ferry ports nearby: Newcastle Ferry Port and the Port of Hull.
There are three airports all within three hours of North Yorkshire: Leeds Bradford Airport, Teesside International Airport and Newcastle International Airport.
Rail
Halfway between London and Edinburgh, North Yorkshire benefits from high speed connections to both, and rail connectivity across its breadth.
Bus
The bus services across North Yorkshire provide extended public transport links across the county bringing the many towns and villages together. Between major towns services often run multiple times an hour allowing freedom and flexibility.
Driving
North Yorkshire is the largest county in England, and is approximately 100 miles across, covering over 3,400 square miles with over 50 miles of stunning coastline. It takes approximately 2.5 hours to dive from one side of the county to the other, meaning you have plenty of amazing locations to explore, from bustling towns to wide, open countryside and vast moorlands.
The A1(M) and the A19 are the busiest and quickest routes to North Yorkshire, both running through the middle of the county. Other important routes through include the A171 which takes you along the coast through beautiful coastal villages. The A64 takes you from York to the coast, and the A170 goes along the southern edge of the North York Moors National Park.
Towards the West of the county, the A61 goes from Leeds to the south, through Harrogate and up to Thirsk. The A59 takes you from Harrogate to Skipton, and the A65 runs along the western edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and eventually leads to Lancashire and the Lake District.
