Tucked away in corners of North Yorkshire you will find some amazing artisan brewers, distillers and vintners. Producing high-quality and award-winning beers, spirits and wines, these passionate makers love what they make and where they make it, using locally sourced ingredients including hops and botanicals, and they can’t wait for you to try some.

The award-winning Black Sheep Brewery produces well-known beers, ales and stouts in their brewery in Masham, many of which grace real ale pubs around the country. Enjoy a pint or two of Riggwelter or Black Sheep Ale in their bar or sample some during a brewery tour where you can learn about the techniques used to produce the perfect pint.

Situated in the heart of Harrogate, Cold Bath Brewing Co is where you can enjoy a refreshing pint of beer served to you within sight of the brewing vats and where the beer is piped straight to the bar taps. The best Yorkshire ingredients together with hops from Europe are used to produce clean and refreshing beers.

The Spirit of Harrogate is home to the award-winning Slingsby Gin where, taking inspiration from Harrogate’s spa heritage, gins are crafted using Harrogate spring water, local botanicals and real fruit. The shop sells a variety of flavoured gins, which you can sample to find the right one. Join the team for a Slingsby Experience and sample developmental gins.

Yorkshire Heart Vineyard and Brewery make a range of wines from their 22,000 vines as well as brewing award-winning crafts ales and beers using water from their own natural spring. Book a wine tasting tour where you can sample wines and learn how everything is done on site. Enjoy some food in the Winehouse Cafe overlooking the vineyard.

Fairfax Distillery sits within Ye Olde Sun Inn in Colton near Tadcaster. Using local ingredients, they have produced award-winning spirits such as the Lord General Rum, Toffee Vodka and Rhubarb and Quince Gin. You can also build your own bottle online as you choose your spirit and flavours and purchase miniatures in gift packs and chocolates.

The Jolly Sailor Brewery is an independently owned award-winning microbrewery on the outskirts of Selby. Opened in 2012, the brewery produces real ales in casks, kegs and bottles. Browse the brewery shop where you can buy souvenirs and ales to take home with you and tours are available by appointment.

Wold Top Brewery in the Yorkshire Wolds uses homegrown and sustainably sourced ingredients to produce a selection of award-winning craft beers full of taste and character and made with passion. All the beers, including special edition beers, are produced with sustainability at the heart of the process, and you can find out more on a brewery tour.

The sister company of Wold Top Brewery, The Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery produces local and sustainable single malt whisky using homegrown barley and local spring water from the family farm. Distillery tours run daily where you can visit the still house and enjoy three drams of award-winning single malt.

Filey Distillery, named after the seaside town it is based in, is housed in a former herring smokehouse. Gins are distilled in a copper pot still, filled, labelled and signed by hand. Join a micro tour or tasting and smell and feel the botanicals used, learn about the processes involved and the secret ingredients added.

In a converted barn in the shadow of the abbey, Whitby Brewery produces popular craft beers and ales using the finest barley, wheat and hops. The microbrewery opened in 2013 and has grown steadily ever since supplying local pubs and festivals. You can learn more on a brewery tour and buy some Whitby Brewery merch to take home with you.

See inside the award-winning microbrewery at Cropton Brewery on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. Take a brewery tour with a knowledgeable guide Tuesday to Saturday, enjoy tasty Yorkshire pub food and try ales called Monkmans Slaughter and Blackout. You can pick up a souvenir in the gift shop and take a look around the visitor centre.

The Rare Bird Distillery is housed in a former stable block in Malton. Their award-winning London Dry Gin, signature Rhubarb and Ginger and unique Vanilla Spiced Gin are all crafted in ‘Florence’, their 300l copper still. Book a session at their Gin School and learn how to make your very own gin to take home with you.

Ryedale Vineyards at the foot of the Yorkshire Wolds has 15,000 vines and 18 different grape varieties including Chardonnay and Pinot Noir while heritage apples are used to make their cider. The whole winemaking process from pressing to bottling is done by hand in a converted cow byre. Join a tour and sample the wines and ciders.
