Day One: Calling all adrenaline enthusiasts

How Stean Gorge Activity Centre, Nidderdale

A visit to the How Stean Gorge Activity Centre will unleash your inner adventurer. Against the backdrop of a wooded gorge, you can scramble your way through deep pools and over rocky outcrops.

Or head up high and tackle the Via Ferrata high rope course, one of only three in the UK. The Centre also offers lots of other courses including abseiling, canoeing and caving or you can tackle the ‘Big 5’ Outdoor Multi Activity Day.

Day Two: Experience the best cycling

Langdale End to Whitby Cycle Route

Head out on two wheels and experience some great cycling surrounded by beautiful countryside. The Langdale End to Whitby Cycle Route is an 18-mile ride on roads and tracks across the North York Moors to the coast.

This moderate route takes you across open moorland. The high point is 299-metres, and the latter part of the route takes you on The Cinder Track for a relaxed run into Whitby.

As the route is part of the ‘Moor to Sea Cycle Network’, you can easily extend your ride to match your energy levels.

Day Three: Go wild for wild swimming

Swinton Estate, near Masham

Experience some wild swimming mindfulness and wellbeing at Swinton Estate near Masham. Purchase a parkland and garden pass and enjoy a morning, afternoon or evening swim in their beautiful woodland lake.

Surrounded by nature, you can swim in peaceful conditions and find your inner chill.

Day Four: am: The right running routes

Fewston Reservoir, near Harrogate

Start the morning with a run or jog around the edge of Fewston Reservoir to the west of Harrogate.

This is a great 4-mile running route which can be extended by including the neighbouring Swintsy reservoir.

Day Four: pm: Mountain biking extreme

Dalby Forest Cycling Trails

Spend the afternoon on the mountain biking trails at Dalby Forest. Choose the trails best suited for your bike skills: Green (easy), Blue (moderate), Red (difficult), Black (severe).

Get on your bike and experience the twists and turns, descents, rocks, and water crossings deep in the forest. Refuel at the onsite cafes before heading out for more action.

Day five: A walker’s paradise

The Pennine Way

Head to Gargrave in the Yorkshire Dales and enjoy a day of walking along the Pennine Way. The 268-mile National Trail cuts through the Dales on its journey from Derbyshire to the Scottish Borders.

Take in the sights of Malham Cove and the Ribblehead Viaduct, ascend Pen-y-ghent, one of the Three Peaks and finish in the Wensleydale town of Hawes. Break up the walk if you wish and extend your visit by a day.
