Day One: Arrive at your luxurious coastal base

Day One : Discover the beach, local eateries and village charm

PM: Explore Sandsend

After settling in at Saltmoore, spend the afternoon exploring Sandsend. Wander through the village to admire the charming cottages by the beck, browse the local independent boutiques and stop by one of the delicious eateries for a spot of lunch by the sea. Before you return to the hotel for the evening, why not enjoy a stroll on the beach and feel the sand between your toes. Whatever the season there's nothing quite like the sound of the rolling waves and the feeling of fresh sea air - the perfect way to unwind and escape from the busy pace of everyday life.

Day One: Time to relax with good food and an evening in the spa

PM: Evening at Saltmoore

As evening settles in, return to Saltmoore for a relaxed end to the day. Unwind in the state of the art spa - whether it’s a soak in the bubbling spa pool, a quiet moment in the steam room or enjoying a glass of bubbly by the pool, the calming atmosphere is sure to ease you into your minibreak. Afterwards, enjoy a delicious meal in the hotel’s Michelin-recommended restaurant, The Brasserie, where seasonal ingredients and coastal flavours take centre stage, before you retreat to your sumptuous bedroom for a comfortable night's sleep.

Day Two: a scenic stroll and a day of discovery

All day: Explore the neighbouring town of Whitby

Start your morning with a delicious breakfast at Saltmoore, then set out on foot for Whitby via the beach or coastal path. The walk from Sandsend to Whitby is around 2.5 to 3 miles and takes roughly 45 to 60 minutes. It’s a scenic stretch, with wide sands and stunning clifftop views just be sure to check the tide times if you’re planning to walk along the beach.

Once in Whitby, spend time browsing the town’s independent shops, from jet jewellery to local art and antiques. Explore Whitby’s rich heritage with a visit to one of the museums celebrating the maritime history and wayfinders of the town. For the best view of the town, climb the iconic 199 Steps to St Mary’s Church and the dramatic ruins of the Abbey. Before heading back to Saltmoore for an evening of relaxation, round off your visit with a portion of Whitby’s famous fish and chips!

Day Three: Woodland escape

AM: Stretch your legs before heading off

While staying at Saltmoore, be sure to indulge in another glorious breakfast before setting out for a walk through Mulgrave Woods. This ancient woodland offers a peaceful escape beneath the canopy, with winding trails that lead to the atmospheric ruins of Mulgrave Castle - once a royal stronghold, now a quiet reminder of centuries past. After exploring the estate, make your way back through Sandsend and stop for a bite to eat at one of the village's cafés or enjoy a refreshing dip in the sea.
