About Roseberry Topping Easy Access Walk
From the campsite we climb gently, passing Aireyholme farm where Captain Cook grew up then on to pass by the magnificent Rosebury Topping which walkers can ascend. The track on concrete downhill from Bousdale Farm is very steep, take care. We go down into Guisborough Forest for lunch then return. Directions: From Middlesborough take A172 south towards Stokesley for 1.4 miles. At small roundabout turn left on B1292 to Great Ayton. At A173 T junction turn left for 0.3 mile then at roundabout with petrol station turn right down Newton Road. Go straight over mini roundabout, wall on left hand side. Turn left into Station Road signposted Railway Station & Little Ayton passing Harbottle Undertakers. At mini roundabout go straight on to Little Ayton Road (and not left to the Station). Travel along Little Ayton Lane with passing places, bear left before the bridge into Fletchers Lane. Continue to farm. Length: 8.04 miles. Surface: rough. Difficulty: Medium. Total Ascent: 1132 feet. Total Descent: 1131 feet. Maximum Elevation: 791 feet. Minimum Elevation: 318 feet
