About Moorside Hotel and Cafe
John and the team offer a warm welcome at the Moorside Hotel and Cafe. Based on the A171 Scarborough to Whitby Road, Fylingdales, you can find it nestled next to the stunning North Yorkshire Moors, and just behind the bustling Flask Inn.
Offering a tasty selection of breakfast, lunch and cake options, Moorside Cafe is open for orders between 9am and 1.30pm throughout the week, opening a little earlier at 8am on weekdays. We use fresh, daily prepared food, using locally sourced ingredients wherever possible. Whether you’re staying overnight, or just passing through the A171, you’ll always receive a warm welcome.
Our kitchen is dedicated to cooking up delicious, satisfying food for many different diets, providing gluten-free and vegetarian dishes. Our cafe has an accessible WC with Baby Changing Facilities next to reception.
The Moorside Café is the perfect place to grab a tasty bite to eat for anyone journeying between Scarborough and Whitby, and a great pit-stop to those adventuring to Falling Foss, Ravenscar, or the Cleveland Way. Robin Hood’s Bay, Goathland and Dalby Forest are close by, with fantastic scenic countryside in every direction.
If you want to extend your stay, we offer comfortable, freshly refurbished rooms complete with ensuite and tea and coffee making facilities. Whether you choose to explore further afield, or just enjoy soaking up the outstanding scenery, your break at the Moorside will be one you savour long after you’ve left.

- Are you dog-friendly?
We're always delighted to see dogs, and welcome well-behaved ones in our cafe. We also have an outside seating area. We unfortunately do not allow pets for overnight stays. If you have a service animal and would like to visit, we recommend you get in touch with us directly with any accessible concerns.
- When are you open?
The Moorside Cafe is open from 8am weekdays, and 9am on weekends. Our last orders for lunch are at 1.30pm. We are usually closed over the Christmas period.
- What meals do you serve?
We cater to vegetarian and gluten-free diets for our breakfasts and lunches. We also offer takeaway options.
- How do I stay with you?
We do occasionally accept walk-ins, but we recommend booking direct on our website for the best possible rate.
