About Low Costa Mill
Located on the banks of Costa Beck, Low Costa Mill is set in a peaceful haven on the outskirts of Pickering, North Yorkshire. The ancient ‘Costa Beck’ dates back to the 1200s & in times gone by this played an important part, powering the working mill wheel. Now it provides a relaxing setting for seven holiday cottages, ideal for your next family break or special occasion.
Grouped around & adjacent to the Low Costa Mill, the family friendly cottages have been skilfully & sympathetically adapted from former farm & mill buildings. The cottages retain many original features, such as exposed beams & brickwork, and make an ideal base for families, small groups & couples, or for anyone who appreciates the peace & tranquillity of the countryside. The cottages vary in size to accommodate from two to eight people, plus cots. Each of the family friendly cottages has a well equipped kitchen with a range of facilities to suit all your needs, most have open log fires, cots and high chairs are available free of charge on request. For the cottages without washing machines there is a shared laundry room with free to use washing machines and pay-per-use tumble drier. High speed Wifi is available across the site, along with a supply of BBQs available for guests to use. There are local guide books and ample tourist information leaflets available in the entrance to the swimming pool to help you plan your perfect holiday. Dave and Tracy, the resident owners, occupy the and are always on-hand for help and advice, and will do their utmost to ensure your stay is enjoyable.
The cottages benefit from being set in 10 acres of gardens and woodlands. A large lawn provides an area for relaxing, playing games including giant snakes and ladders, hopscotch or draughts. A climbing frame, swings and garden toys should keep the children entertained allowing the adults to relax. And if you’re looking for somewhere quiet to relax with a book, there are plenty of hidden gems, a favourite spot being the bench overlooking the Costa Beck, where you can sit in the peace and quiet overlooking the tumbling beck and the resident wildlife. If adventures are more your style, we have secure bike storage facilities on site to keep all your bikes safe while not in use exploring the local area. Whatever the weather, you can be guaranteed hours of fun in our indoor heated swimming pool. The swimming pool along with adjacent toddler pool is for the exclusive use of cottage guests only and provides many hours enjoyment for all.
Children of all ages will love the large grassy play area, equipped with climbing frames, slides, swings and more, plus garden games, the tree-house and our woodland walk many of our guests spend the whole day without even thinking of leaving the site. And don’t forget the friendly goats, sheep, chickens and cats on-site. Dogs are welcome, you’ll be pleased to hear that five of our seven cottages are dog friendly, and many of the local attractions and pubs/restaurants in the Pickering area are dog friendly too.
With the feeling of being removed from a bustling modern lifestyle, situated in beautiful countryside, Low Costa Mill is fortunate to have the charming market town of Pickering on its doorstep ready for you to explore.
