Lion Inn to Hutton le Hole Walk

Lion Inn > Rosedale Railway > Bank Top > Hutton-le-Hole (8.5 miles/13.67 km/4 hours). Bus set down Blakey (Lion Inn); Return from Hutton-le-Hole. Downhill all the way - with great views across Rosedale from the old Ironstone railway. Not happy with moorland crossing after Rosedale Bank Top? Then continue alongside the minor road back to Hutton le Hole. It is essential that anyone embarking on a walk across the Moors is properly equipped (water-proof walking boots, waterproof clothing, etc.) and have the relevant OS Maps (Explorer OL26) and compass or GPS. This route crosses open moorland. Make sure you can do the walk comfortably in the time available - otherwise you may have to wait a week for the next bus back!
