Goathland and Grosmont - Moors

Grosmont to Beck Hole Walk

Enjoy the signs of spring on a circular walk of just under 5 miles from Grosmont that starts with a shady woodland stroll through the bluebells of Doctor’s Wood and Crag Cliif Wood.

About Grosmont to Beck Hole Walk

Take a scenic 4¾-mile circular walk from Grosmont, through bluebell-filled woodlands and along the historic Whitby to Pickering railway, now ‘The Rail Trail.’ The route passes through Beck Hole before following the Murk Esk back to Grosmont, where steam trains still run on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. Grosmont, once an industrial hub, grew around the world’s first passenger railway tunnel, built by George Stephenson. Enjoy a mix of woodland paths, riverside strolls, and railway heritage.
