Grass Wood Nature Reserve
The largest areas of broadleaved woodland in the Yorkshire Dales.
About Grass Wood Nature Reserve
Grass Wood is one of the largest areas of broadleaved woodland in the Yorkshire Dales and is managed by the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust. The reserve lies just outside Grassington and is open to the public via a network of footpaths.
The woodland is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest due to its plant life and limestone features. Visitors may see seasonal wildflowers, woodland birds and fungi, depending on the time of year.
There is also evidence of early settlement within the wood, including remains linked to Iron Age activity.
