About Cod Beck Reservoir

Just a mile north of Osmotherley, Cod Beck Reservoir offers a peaceful escape on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. Surrounded by conifer woodland and open moorland views, it’s a scenic spot that’s beautiful in every season. The well-surfaced 1.5-mile circular path is mostly flat, with just a gentle incline in the northeast corner, making it suitable for families and pushchairs.

The reservoir is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest, home to a rich variety of wildlife including toads, otters, eels and brown trout. For keen walkers, the start of the Lyke Wake Walk - a 40-mile challenging moorland route - begins opposite the northern end of the reservoir. Please note: parking is limited. Please park responsibly and avoid roadside parking, which may result in fines. Swimming is not permitted - the water is deep, cold and dangerous, with no lifeguards on duty
