About Beryl Burton Cycle Way
The Beryl Burton Cycleway offers a scenic and traffic-free route connecting Knaresborough to Harrogate and beyond. This fully surfaced path, named after the legendary 7-time World Champion cyclist Beryl Burton, follows the River Nidd and passes through fields and woodlands. Cyclists can explore the picturesque landscapes, with options to head towards Ripley or Harrogate Town Centre.
Beryl Burton, a Knaresborough Cycling Club member, achieved remarkable success in women’s cycling, including setting a world record in 1967 for the 12-hour time trial. Known for her achievements and sportsmanship, Burton's legacy is honored not only through the cycleway but also in the Knaresborough Windows.
