Seaside Heritage Network's Big Day Out 2026 at Scarborough - The Grand Hotel Scarborough

Join the Seaside Heritage Network for our annual Big Day Out at the seaside. This year we're in Scarborough, joining the Scarborough 400 celebrations as one of Britain's first seaside resorts. Of course, Scarborough offers a wealth of seaside heritage, and we're pleased to be collaborating with Big Ideas by the Sea and This is Scarborough to bring you the best that Scarborough has to offer. And to top it all off, we'll be announcing this year's Bucket and Spade List winners.

We have a full programme of events, including:

* 2 pm Welcome to the Big Day Out with the Seaside Heritage Network team
* 2:05 pm John Oxley on Big Ideas by the Sea and Scarborough 400
* 2:20 pm Toby Hyam from This is Scarborough on the proposals for a new micro-museum of Scarborough's seaside heritage
* 2:30 pm Question and answers with Andrew Martin, author of 'To the Sea by Train [https://profilebooks.com/work/to-the-sea-by-train/]'
* 3:10 pm Refreshments with the opportunity to browse the book stalls and book signing
* 3:30 pm Presentation of the Bucket and Spade Awards
* 4:10 pm Guided tours of the Grand Hotel
