About Knaresborough Heritage Centre Talk: Searching for the Trinitarian Priory Geophysics - Knaresborough Methodist Church
Presented By Sam Roberts
This talk is an introduction to the use of geophysical surveys in archaeology, and its use in recent work carried out at Abbey Road Orchards in Knaresborough.
Sam explains what geophysics is, how it works, how it is used to investigate sites without excavating, and its advantages and limitations.
He then looks at the survey undertaken to investigate an area thought to be once part of Knaresborough’s Trinitarian Priory on Abbey Road. He discusses the historical background, the ‘geophys’ results, and what they might tell us about one of Knaresborough’s lesser known historic sites.
