Scarborough Museums Stores Tour: Celebrating Scarboroughs Tourism History - Woodend Gallery and Studios

To mark the landmark Scarborough 400 celebrations, Scarborough Museums is opening its stores for a rare behind-the-scenes glimpse into the towns rich tourism heritage. Join museum curator Cassie Taal as she reveals the stories that helped shape Britains first seaside resort into the muchloved destination it is today.

From the simple pleasure of penny licks to the cheeky charm of vintage seaside postcards, this session explores how Scarborough became a place to relax, recover and revel. Along the way, uncover the towns development as a spa resort, the rise of its iconic attractions, and the many ways generations of holidaymakers have enjoyed time by the sea.

Visitors will have the opportunity to tour the museum store in small, curatorled groups, offering an intimate look at the objects carefully preserved behind the scenes and the stories they tell.
