About Angry Boater - Skipton Town Hall
Join Joel Sanders, the charismatic star of Channel 4s Narrow Escapes as he dives headfirst into a life less ordinary. Once a Las Vegas comedian thriving in the glitz of the strip, Joel swapped it all for a NICE CALM LIFE on a narrowboat.
Would you give up your life to become a nomad on the UKs waterways?
Once upon a time, Joel crisscrossed America, determined to become the first British comedian to perform in all 50 states. His journey took him from rowdy redneck bars in the Deep South to theatres and high-stakes casinos. He shared the stage with many comedy legends including the late Robin Williams. But when a fateful night in Tennessee flipped his world upside down, Joel returned home and purchased a narrowboat. 18 years on, hes still floating around.
Angry Boater is more than a night of comedy; its a captivating blend of sharp wit, heartfelt storytelling, and brutally honest insights into what it is to be a human. Joels unique perspective on life is sharp, funny and completely original.
Catch up on Joels adventures in Narrow Escapes on the Channel 4 app.
In Season 1 (eps 6, 7 & 8), follow Joel as he navigates between shows in London and Coventry. Paying homage to Phil Collins on Live Aid who performed two shows on the same day, 6000 miles apart, travelling by Concorde, Joel attempts to do two shows in the same month, 60 miles apart, travelling by narrowboat.
Season 2 (eps 23, 24 & 25) sees Joel journeying from Birmingham to Sharpness, where he dares to take his narrowboat onto The Bristol Channel in the dead of night, featuring his now infamous mannequin encounter.
Dont miss your chance to experience the hilarity and heart of Angry Boater a show like no other.
Joel Sanders, aka Angry Boater, is an absolute comedic gem! His razor-sharp wit, masterful storytelling, and brilliantly observational humour make for a night of non-stop laughter. Whether hes sharing his unique experiences of life on the water or delving into the absurdities of everyday life, Joel captivates his audience with an energy thats both electric and effortlessly relatable. His ability to turn the most mundane moments into comedic gold is nothing short of genius. If you havent experienced Angry Boater live, youre seriously missing out on one of the funniest and most original acts around.
