About Celloship of the String - Settle Victoria Hall

Celloship of the String is a cello ensemble based in Lancashire, U.K. The four core members of the collective are Bob Buller, Ilona Hepburn, Penny Holt and Margit van der Zwan. Each cellist brings a wealth of experience and diversity, which is reflected in their vibrant repertoire. Their professional work ranges from TV & radio appearances, teaching, charity recitals, orchestral playing, recording, busking and performing at music festivals with big names in the pop world. The group was founded in Clitheroe in 2022, with the fundamental ethos being to unite friendship and music. The quartet performs at private functions, and for concert societies including recitals at National Trust properties. The groups performance repertoire ranges through the centuries, and often incorporates the players own arrangments and compositions for cello quartet.

The warm mellow tones of the cello are recognised to be the closest sounding instrument to the human voice, which may go some way to explaining why the cello reaches deep into the hearts of the listener. This combination of 4 cellos together is rarely experienced, but is sure to be something not easily forgotten.
