The February concert is based on Renaissance and Classical forms. Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges wonderful Symphony in G, Op.11, No.1 is a stunning example of the early classical symphony and full of wonderful melodies. Oboist extraordinaire Esther Williams joins us for Wolfgang A. Mozart's Oboe Concerto in C, which promises to be full of wit and joy. Ottorino Respighi's charming Ancient Airs and Dances Suite No.2 is based on collections of Renaissance lute music. We close with Johannes Brahms's majestic Variations and Fugue on a Theme by Handel, a Baroque theme masterfully turned into musical styles of delight and majesty.
