Richmond

A short drive from Kiplin lies the one of the most picturesque towns in the UK, Richmond. Start with a visit to its historic hilltop castle, a commanding structure that offers sweeping views of the surrounding countryside. From there, take the tranquil 35 minute walk along the river to the evocative ruins of Easby Abbey, nestled among meadows with plenty of open space to run around - plus, it's free to enter.

After that, you'll be in need of a snack - call into Richmond's cobbled marketplace for a treat at one of the cosy tearooms, where homemade cakes and warm Yorkshire hospitality are always on the menu.
