Day 1: Morning

Malton

Malton makes the perfect base for your North Yorkshire adventure, with everything you need just steps away. This charming market town offers a range of accommodation, from cosy hotels and self-catering cottages to glamping spots, ideal for families of all sizes.

Known as Yorkshire’s food capital, Malton is a haven for food lovers. Start your day with a treat from one of the many cafés, coffee houses, or patisseries. Whether it’s pancakes for breakfast or a quick snack before your next adventure, there’s something for everyone.

Day 1: Afternoon

Eden Camp

Get ready for an afternoon of discovery at Eden Camp Modern History Museum, where fun meets learning for the whole family! Step into WWII and 20th-century history through immersive exhibits that bring the past to life. From the sights, sounds and smells of wartime Britain, each of the huts offers an adventure.

Kids will love the interactive games that spark curiosity and make history hands-on. Outside, the play area and impressive military vehicles offer space to explore, climb, and snap memorable family photos.

Then head back to Malton for a family dinner and a riverside walk.

Dalby Forest

Craving some adventure? Lace up your walking boots and dive into the wilderness of Dalby Forest, where over 8,500 acres of woodland trails, hidden valleys, and scenic viewpoints are waiting to be explored.

Hire bikes and tackle some of the UK’s best mountain biking trails, with gentle family loops and adrenaline-pumping descents there’s something for all abilities. Along the way, keep your eyes peeled for unique sculptures and art installations tucked into the trees.

Pack a picnic, breathe in the fresh forest air, and let the kids run wild!

Day 2: Afternoon

Thornton-le-dale

After burning off all that energy in Dalby Forest, a visit to the picturesque village of Thornton-le-Dale is the perfect way to unwind and indulge for the afternoon.

Just a short distance from the forest, this charming village invites you to take a stroll. You’ll stumble across the iconic thatched cottage, an Instagram favourite that looks even better in person.

The village is filled with cosy tearooms, delightful bakeries, and a tempting ice cream parlour, perfect for a sweet treat. A must-visit gem in the heart of North Yorkshire.

Day 3: Morning

Helmsley, charming market town

Before heading home, take your explorers to Helmsley. There are loads of walking and cycling trails where kids can run wild, spot wildlife, and maybe even find a secret path or two.

The town offers rich history at its castle, and nearby National Trust sites, perfect for imagining knights, dragons, and daring adventures.

You’ll also find a delightful mix of independent shops and boutiques, alongside cosy cafés, artisan bakeries, tempting delis, and welcoming pubs serving delicious local food.
