About Saltburn Community Theatre - Carey Marx + Support - Saltburn Arts

We are back for our first show of 2026 at Saltburn theatre with a cracking line up

Carey Marx

A circuit veteran, Marx concocts his own blend of dark humour with mischief and glee. His wilful disregard for the controversial and taboo is tempered with his ability to find joy in the most unexpected places. An international multi-award winner, Carey is no stranger to screen or radio with credits ranging from Channel 4s Gas to BBC Ones The Stand Up Show as well as his own radio show, Intensive Carey (BBC Radio 4) adapted from his wildly successful 2013 Edinburgh Festival Fringe show of the same title in 2015. With such a unique voice it is no surprise that Marx has written for the likes of Newzoids (ITV), The Now Show, (Radio 4), and Nick Doodys Bigipedia (BBC Radio 4). Join Carey this Fringe at his life-pondering, behaviour-dissecting, twisted, brutal and honest best.

Mike Newall

A gentle, amiable power-house of a comic, Mikes timing is the envy of performers with ten times the experience and is living proof that you cant learn to be funny, some people just are. Since making his debut in 2003, he has toured the country honing his skills and is now a force to be reckoned with.
A regular on the festival circuit since 2010, Mike has performed four well-received Edinburgh Fringe shows, as well as supporting Alun Cochrane on several UK tours.
well-crafted jokes, great call-backs and a wonderfully dry delivery - Three Weeks

Ben Briggs

A professional comedian for over 15 years, Ben has worked as both an act and compere for some of the biggest clubs in the UK and abroad.
He is brash, honest, razor sharp and at times dark but always very, very funny. Ben has appeared at the Leicester, Nottingham, Birmingham and Edinburgh Comedy festivals. In 2015 he was finalist in the English Comedian of the Year.

Simon Emmanuel

Simon is a Welsh stand-up comedian and radio personality performing live across the UK and Europe. Since starting in 2008, he has built a successful career sharing the stage with some of the biggest names in comedy and appearing at top clubs nationally and internationally.
Known for his manic energy, quick wit, far-flung observations, and abstract punchlines, Simon is a firm favourite wherever he performs.
