Book Launch: Journeys of Hope - Settle Victoria Hall

Alison Marshall talks about her new book Journeys of Hope: The Letters of Meyer and Sonia

Everyone thinks there might be something interesting in their attic. In this case, it turned out that there was. From the box of letters she found there, Settle resident Alison Marshall pieced together the first hand story of two peoples emigration journey, drawing parallels between their situation in the 1920s and that of their parents, grandparents all of them migrants from eastern Europe, but in vastly different circumstances.

The letters that Alison found offer unique insights into universal challenges, chiming with current affairs and prompted her own journey of discovery through eastern Europe.

You are invited to join us at this launch event to hear the fascinating backstory behind this important new book. Pippa Doran will ask questions you never dared to ask, in a fireside chat format. The event will start with drinks and cake at 6.30 pm, followed by an informal conversation between Pippa Doran and Alison Marshall. There will then be opportunities for the audience to ask questions or discuss issues, finishing with more tea and cake and the bar will be open until 8.30 pm.
